Are you looking for a way to remember a special pet you recently lost?
Memorial glass can be a wonderful way to keep them close to you and honour their memory with jewellery or art you can cherish for years to come.
However, if you’re anything like my customers, sending pet’s ashes away can be one of the biggest causes for concern. You’ll want to know they are in good hands, and that they won’t get lost or mixed up.
So, how do you know for sure that your pet memorial jewellery will be made with your pet’s ashes – and no-one else’s?
In this blog post, I’m going to explain what to ask for so that you can be 100% confident in a memorial jewellery company.
How will you know it’s your pet’s ashes?
It’s true that every single memorial glass piece is special, in that the ashes form their own unique pattern in the glass. However, simply from looking at memorial jewellery, there’s no way to tell for certain whose ashes have been used to make it.
If this worries you, try not to stress, as there IS a way you can be guaranteed that your jewellery or art has been made from your pet’s ashes and their ashes alone, and it comes in the form of a certificate of authenticity.
What is a certificate of authenticity?
This is essentially a piece of paper to certify that your pet’s ashes have been used in the making of the finished product – whether that be a cremation ring, memorial pendant, sparkling cufflinks, a glass sculpture, and whichever keepsake you choose.
It should be signed, dated and stamped by the person who made the glass, or perhaps a supervisor – and you’ll find most reputable companies will provide you with a certificate of authenticity to accompany the final product, along with a presentation box etc.
Will all companies do this?
Unfortunately, not all companies will offer you a certificate of authenticity, although as I said above, most reputable ones will. Some may just require your trust, although I have always personally provided my customers with postcard-sized certificates that are included with their orders.
The only way to find out you will definitely get this reassurance is to either check the company’s website and FAQ, or call up and speak to someone directly. I highly recommend the second option, as there are a few other questions you should be asking before committing to a memorial glass company.
Remember, always check to ensure a company with keep your pet’s ashes secure under lock and key at all times, and only send ashes away once you’re 100% confident that your pet’s ashes are in good hands.
Conclusion
By now, you should have a good idea of the assurances you can expect from most reputable pet memorial jewellery companies. Always check you’ll receive a certificate of authentication with your finished piece of cremation jewellery, so you can be certain that it was made with only your pet’s ashes.
I hope this blog post has been helpful, but if there are any other questions you have, please post them in the comments section and I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible.
